February Political Newsletter

As we support our partner organizations and state allies in planning for the 2026 midterm elections we’re so grateful for your renewed support. This year is an important opportunity for us to put reproductive rights at the forefront of political campaigns. Uplifting reproductive healthcare candidates and exposing their anti-abortion and reproductive freedom opponents. Thank you for being a part of this movement.

Two dangerous bills have been proposed in South Carolina. The first, H. 3537, would legally define a fertilized egg at any stage of development as a person. This bill would open the door to homicide charges for folks experiencing a variety of pregnancy outcomes. The second bill, H. 4760 would criminalize abortion medication and make it a felony to distribute, deliver, or possess abortion pills. Read more about these dangerous bills here.

Earlier this month in Texas, Democrat Taylor Rehmet won his State Senate run-off election against leading abortion opponent Leigh Wambsganss by 57% to 43%.  Wambsganss had endorsements from Donald Trump, Texas Alliance for Life PAC and Texas Right to Life.  Trump won the district in 2024 by 17 points.  One factor contributing to Rehmet’s victory was strong support from Latino voters in this district which includes parts of Fort Worth and the city's northern suburbs.

2026 Midterm Elections and State Partner Updates

In January, Project 50’s Political Director traveled to Indiana to meet with Project 50’s state partner, Indiana Reproductive Freedom PAC for an electoral planning retreat. Over the next few weeks IRF PAC will narrow down their target races and finalize their campaign plans.

Access Missouri has released their list of endorsed candidates for 2026!

Keri Ingle and Betsy Fogle are reproductive healthcare champions who currently serve in the Missouri House of Representatives. They are running for seats in the Missouri Senate.  Their victories would contribute to breaking the Senate’s current anti-reproductive healthcare supermajority.

Also important is helping a third reproductive health and rights leader defend her Senate seat - Tracy McCreery.

Check out more about our state partners in Arkansas, Indiana, and Missouri!

We are grateful to partner with you in this work.

We're excited to invite you to Project 50's 2nd Annual How We Win event on Tuesday, May 5th from 5:30-7:30 pm in Chicago. Join us for an evening with reproductive rights leaders from across the country as we share our roadmap for winning critical 2026 races in Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, and beyond.

This event directly fuels the work you've been reading about in this newsletter—supporting state partners, backing champion candidates, and building the infrastructure we need to win. We hope you'll join us.

RSVP here!

Thank you for your support,
