Because of your contributions, we were able to send our third and final mail piece to 92,000 targeted voters!
Now that we were able to pull off the final pre-election fundraising push, we want to let you know what we’ll be watching on Tuesday - Election Day.
Project 50 and our state partner organizations are focused on nine state legislature races in Arkansas, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Victories by reproductive rights advocates in these districts would start to shift the balance of power away from the anti-abortion crusaders who currently dominate abortion-ban states.
These are tough states: former President Donald Trump won all three by 55% to 65% in 2020. Project 50 is working to build political power for reproductive rights in places where few other national organizations are investing.
And this is tough work: In 2022, only 4% of incumbent state legislators lost a competitive race, so we know that the work of defeating entrenched anti-choice incumbents is often an uphill battle.
In addition to these state legislative races, there are ballot initiatives in ten statesthat present an opportunity to strengthen the right to abortion healthcare in eight states and reverse existing complete abortion bans in two states.
Ultimately, there is no single pathway to rebuilding reproductive rights in America, and we must remain committed to this work for the long haul. We need to work to elect pro-choice state legislators just as much as we need to elect a pro-choice president.
