A Message from Executive Director, Bryan Howard
We wish you a very happy holiday season and hope you are celebrating these last few weeks of 2023 with loved ones! As we look back on our year here at Project 50, we have so much for which to be grateful and of course, so much work to do in 2024.
As you finalize your end-of-year giving, we ask that you consider supporting our critical work as the sole national organization dedicated to securing reproductive rights nationwide through political power-building at a local level, state-by-state. Your support is crucial to advancing this important cause in the upcoming 2024 cycle.
Project 50's Progress in 2023
At Project 50, we executed an in-depth, state-by-state survey to connect with activists and organizations on the ground to understand the existing pro-choice infrastructure in each state. Given the staggering number of states lacking state-based organizations dedicated to building pro-choice political power, we’ve only connected with reproductive rights-focused PACs in 14 states.
Project 50 moved quickly to set criteria to work in states in 2024. Each of these states has already banned abortion and has local organizations upon which to build.
2024 Plan & Partnerships
Project 50 is excited to partner with three state organizations in 2024:
- Progressive Arkansas Women PAC (PAWPAC) in Arkansas
- We Are Rising in Oklahoma
- Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network (WREN) in South Carolina.
Project 50 will collaborate with our state partners, providing expertise and support, while also tailoring our partnership to the specific needs, opportunities, and challenges identified by local leaders in each state. This includes enabling our partners to communicate directly with strategically targeted voters to build power for reproductive rights.
In each case, we are working together to develop multi-year growth plans and budgets to empower the development and impact of each group in the November 2024 elections.
Project 50 is hiring!
With Project 50’s growth in the past year, we are excited to announce our nationwide search for a national Political Director who will join us in 2024. The Political Director’s electoral expertise and state analysis will enable Project 50 to effectively advise our on-the-ground state partners on building voter communication strategies, implementing development plans, and identifying the state legislative races in which they can unseat leading abortion rights opponents.
