No. As a non-partisan organization, we welcome collaboration across the political spectrum.
Project 50 is a 527 political action committee (PAC). Contributions to Project 50 are not tax-deductible. Federal regulations require us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of the employer of all individuals who contribute.
The reproductive landscape varies from state to state. Some states already have one or more local or state organizations working to protect abortion access, while in others, this infrastructure does not exist yet. No matter what point a state is at, Project 50 can provide the right level of support to advance reproductive rights and get pro-choice leaders elected.
Our efforts prioritize states where abortion access has already been restricted or is most at risk, states with existing reproductive health networks, and states where victory in a small number of races could shift the balance of power toward protecting reproductive rights.
Our strategy is based on a winning formula that was first applied to restore reproductive rights in Illinois. It entails laser focus solely on the issue of reproductive rights, and solely at the state level. We support local and state organizations as they lead the way.
Without nationwide constitutional protection, the only way to ensure Americans’ reproductive rights is to protect them in local laws and state constitutions. States need the political infrastructure to elect legislators who are committed to supporting abortion access. This infrastructure must be overseen by independent organizations that are laser-focused on this objective. These groups are at the forefront of protecting reproductive rights in their state, and their efforts to drive voter engagement and build political power have the greatest potential for change.
